For over 30 years Dr. Smith has been in private practice. As the primary doctor of Family Vision Care, he believes that all our patients should be knowledgeable and educated in the care they receive and that such care should be of excellent standard and quality. Dr. Smith is licensed in South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ohio.
Dr. Smith holds a B.S. in Biology from the Citadel and a M.B.A also from the Citadel. He was Valedictorian in 1976 when receiving his Doctor of Optometry from the South College of Optometry and held the position of Chairman of the Board for Vision Service Plan (VSP) in 1998-2000.
With roles such as Chairman of the Board for the South College of Optometry Board of Trustees, membership on the board for the Association of the Blind and membership to the American Optometric Association, Dr. Smith is a key participant in the progress and advancement of vision care and optometry.
However at every opportunity Dr. Smith enjoys the chance to give back to the local community as well. When not in the office at Family Vision Care, Dr. Smith is a member of Seacoast Christian Community Church, the Mount Pleasant Planning Commission, the Association of Citadel Men and the East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club.
